As per reports, Castor has been sown in an area of 8.35 lakh hectares down by 23.89% than the last year acreage of 10.97 lakh hectares. Normal in season area is around 11.48 lakh hectares in the country. Excess rains in key growing regions at the time of sowing had delayed the sowing by more than two weeks that resulted in lower acreage for the year 2016/17.
