As on 25th July 2016, Castor area in Gujarat lags behind by 19.54 % from corresponding period last year. Farmers in Gujarat have covered only 17,700 ha so far against 22,000 ha last year. Normal area under castor in Gujarat is 714,400 ha. This year lower price of castor seed has discouraged farmers to shift from castor to other lucrative crops.
