A high yielding cardamom hybrid, Appangala 2 resistant to Cardamom mosaic virus (CdMV) with average yields of 927 kg/ha has been developed by Indian Institute of Spice Research, Kozhikode. It was evolved by crossing high yielding local cultivar (CCS 1) with 'katte' virus resistant genotype. This variety is recommended for Karnataka.
