The Earth is getting hotter each day. Every minute, the temperatures keep on rising. After 2015 being the warmest year on record, January 2016 was considered to be the most torrid month ever recorded. The sad part doesn’t end here.
Previously, satellite data indicated that February has already surpassed January’s record of being the hottest ever. Now it's official, as per NASA, February has been an unusually hot month. A combination of Climate Change, Global Warming and a strong El Nino this year has given birth to such unusually warm weather conditions since records began in the year 1980.
As per the data by NASA, while the global average temperature was about 1.14 degree Celsius above average, February was about 1.35 degree Celsius above the average as compared to the 1951-1980 average, making it the hottest month in the modern climate record.
As per studies, the higher the levels of Carbon Dioxide in the Earth’s atmosphere, the hotter our planet will become. Global temperatures may reach an all-time high for about 4,000 years.
During the month of February, a massive warming spike has been seen in satellite databases which are maintained by Remote Sensing Systems.
As far as the Arctic is concerned, temperatures have remained above the average mark resulting in low levels of sea ice coverage. March may be even worse as far as record low ice formation is concerned.
Blaming El Nino alone for this unusual rise in temperatures in February would be unfair. The past 30 year trends clearly indicate that global temperatures spike mostly takes place due to human-induced activities. Thus holding Climate Change for making the world hotter would be fair enough.
