Tremor jolts Jammu & Kashmir

New Delhi, Tuesday, August 14, A moderate earthquake measuring 5.2 on the Richter scale jolted residents in Jammu and Kashmir at 2.02 am today. No loss of life or property has been be reported as yet. The epicenter of the quake was located at Mingora in Swat district of Pakistan's Khaibar Pakhtunkhawah province.

Jammu and Kashmir is situated in a seismic prone region and massive tremors in the past have wreaked havoc here. On October 8, 2005, an earthquake measuring 7.6 on the Richter scale killed more than a lakh people and rendered 4 million homeless on both side of the border.
