Cloudburst in Kailash Mansovar Yatra route kills 3, 4 soldiers missing in Mangti Nala

Heavy to very heavy rains are occurring over some districts of Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand. These rains had triggered landslides in Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand. As per Skymet Weather,  the axis of monsoon trough is passing through the foothills of Himalayas, therefore, we expect moderate showers with one or two heavy spells to continue over Uttarakhand and Himachal Pradesh.

As a fresh Western Disturbance is approaching Jammu and Kashmir rain intensity is also likely to increase over Jammu and Kashmir. Hence incidents of landslides and flash floods are expected at many places over these states for the next 24 hours, thereafter rain intensity will reduce. By August 16, the weather will improve and light scattered rains will continue.

In the past 24 hours from 8.30 am on Sunday, Dharamsala received heavy rain of 75 mm, Pantnagar 72.6 mm, Nahan, 51.2 mm. Dehradun witnessed light to moderate intensity rain of 23 mm, Una 19.2 mm, Jammu 18.8 mm, Pahalgam 19.6 mm, Kullu 12.2 mm of rain. Tourist spots like Manali, Shimla, Gulmarg, and Nainital received light intensity rains.

It is not advised to visit the hilly regions as everyday incidents of landslides are occurring. As per Media reports, a cloudburst occurred in Kailash Mansarovar Yatra route in Uttarakhand which has led to 3 deaths, 4 soldiers, and 3 civilians are also missing in Mangti Nala.

Yesterday also, a devastating landslide incident took place in Mandi district of Himachal Pradesh where two buses were lashed and up till now, 46 dead bodies have been recovered by the NDRF and army in the rescue operations.
