Light to moderate rain at many places with isolated heavy spells are going on in several parts of Sri Lanka from the past few days. Earlier a cyclonic circulation was persisting over southwest Bay of Bengal and adjoining Sri Lanka coast which was giving these good rains.

In the last 24 hours from 8.30 am on Monday, Puttalam witnessed rain to the tune of 30.1 mm, Colombo 29.7 mm, Katunayake 27.2 mm, Galle 27. 2 mm, Mannar 17.4 mm, Hambantota 11.4 mm, Ratnapura 8.4 mm and Vavuniya 7.3 mm.
As per weathermen at Skymet Weather, a trough is seen near Comorian area, therefore, we expect good rains to continue over most of Sri Lanka. The intensity of rains will be more over the eastern and northeastern parts of the country.

Light to moderate rains will continue for next three days thereafter, the rain intensity will increase as a Low-Pressure area which is developing over Andaman and adjoining the southeast Bay of Bengal will move towards Sri Lanka. Rains will increase significantly by November 26.
During that time heavy to extremely heavy rains are possible over the eastern parts of the country. The hefty showers may also lead to waterlogging and flooding.
