Sri Lanka has been recording good rains for the past many days. During the past day also, the country recorded light to moderate rain.

In the last 24 hours from 8.30 am on Friday, Batticaloa recorded rain to the tune of 26.4 mm, Pottuvil and Hambantota 6.5 mm, Ratnapura 6.1 mm and Colombo 4.7 mm rain.
The trough of low which was extending from the equatorial India Ocean to South Tamil Nadu has intensified into a Low-pressure area. It now lies over extreme southwest Bay of Bengal off Sri Lanka coast.
This system is likely to intensify further. In fact, it will move in a westward direction. This system will continue to affect Sri Lanka. It is expected that extensive clouding along with moderate rain and thundershower would occur at many places in Sri Lanka during the next 48 hours.

Places such as Batticaloa, Colombo, Trincomalee, Galle, Kandy, Anuradhapura, Ratnapura, Katunayake, and Kurunegala are likely to witness weather activity during the next few days.
In wake of clouding and the occurrence of rain, the day temperatures will fall by 2°C to 3°C during that period. The maximums will settle between 30°C to 31°C. Meanwhile, the minimums will range between 23°C and 24°C.
Sri Lanka being a coastal country, the humidity will prevail and the weather will be mostly warm during the day but the night would be comfortable.
