Currently, pre-Monsoon activities are going on in Sri Lanka, as a trough is seen running from Southeast Arabian Sea to Southwest Bay of Bengal and is also passing through southern parts of Sri Lanka.

Due to these weather systems, light to moderate rains with few heavy spells occurred over many parts of Sri Lanka. Vavuniya recorded heavy rains during the last 24 hours.

In the last 24 hours from 8:30 am on Wednesday, Colombo recorded 28.5 mm of rain, followed by Katunayake 34.5 mm, Vavuniya 48.1 mm, Trincomalee 50.4 mm, Kandy 10.5 mm, Kurunegala 9.8 mm, Ratnapura 1.9 mm.

These pre-Monsoon rains are expected to continue over many parts of Sri Lanka for the next two to three days.

During the pre-Monsoon season over Sri Lanka, rain and thundershower activities are very common. The most favorable time for the occurrence of these activities is mostly late evening and early morning.

Therefore, we can say that nights will be comfortable, but days will remain warm and humid. Maximum temperatures will be in mid-30s whereas the minimum temperatures will range in mid-20s.
