A time-lapse video captured on December 8 portrays the repeated emission of Bali's Mount Agung. As per the Indonesian Disaster Mitigation Agency, the volcanic ash heaved as high as 2.1 km above the crater, when one of the eruptions happened at 05:30 am (IST) on Friday. Operations at Bali and Lombok International Airports remained normal.

The 3,000 meter Agung is a so-called strato-volcano, capable of very violent explosions which wreaked havoc as massive hazes of volcanic ash raised high above the trembling volcano. This is a replication of a 1963 eruption that killed more than 1,000 people. According to volcanologists, the reason behind the eruption could be ascribed to phreatic eruption caused by magma heating water.
This August, it gradually started to snarl back to life and through September the number of tremors recorded at Mount Agung came to around a thousand daily.
Experts raised the caution for Mount Agung to the highest level and advised 100,000 residents to evacuate the area extending 10 km from its crater.
