Heavy rains likely in Jakarta, Bali, Java, Sumatra

Updated on November 22 at 1:00 PM: DKI Jakarta - Potential rain accompanied by flash/lightning and high winds for a short duration in the area of Depok and Bogor between noon until late at night is likely.

Bali- Heavy rain is likely in Bali in the West, North, Central and East parts. Sea wave height may reach up to 2 meters or more in the South Waters of Bali.

Updated on November 21 at 3:00 PM: The Indonesian nation has been witnessing good rains for the past few days. All thanks to the several weather systems prevailing close to the region. In fact, some areas have been recording heavy rainfall during the last few days.

Even during the last 24 hours, heavy rains were witnessed over several parts of Indonesia. In a span of 24 hours from 8:30 am (IST) on Monday, Tanjungpinang recorded a whopping 70 mm of rainfall, Masamba 69 mm, Banjarmasin 69 mm, Muaratewe 60 mm, Ketapang 59 mm, Tanjung Redep 42 mm, Batan 31 mm, Sintang 29 mm.

At present, a low-pressure area can be seen in the Southern East Java region. Not only this, a cyclonic circulation is also present in the West Indian Ocean along with another in North Pacific Ocean. Along with this, a convergence is formed extending from the West and East Coast of Sumatra, the Karimata Strait, the Java Sea and the Celebes Sea.

Due to these weather features, clouding is expected to increase in many parts of Indonesia during the next 24 hours. In fact, areas including Jakarta, West Sumatra, West Jambi, East and West Java, Bali, Maluku, Belitung, Kalimantan, Sulawesi and adjoining areas are expected to witness very heavy showers. Not only this, strong winds and lightning strikes are also possible over these areas.

These rainfall activities will also spread on to the next 48 hours as well. In fact, the spread of rains is expected to increase even further.
