Heavy pre Monsoon rain show in Bangladesh to continue

Bangladesh has been recording extremely good pre Monsoon showers for the past many days. The intensity of showers varied every day. In the past day from 8:30 am on Sunday, many stations of the state recorded intense showers. So much so that Mymensingh recorded three digit rain to the tune of 188.6 mm.

In the same time frame, Feni recorded 57 mm of rains, Sylhet 50.8 mm, Comilla 55 mm and Srimangal 27.3 mm of rains.

As per Skymet Weather, these rains can be attributed to a cyclonic circulation is over Sub Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim. A trough is extending from this system up to Manipur across West Bengal. In fact, moist winds from the Bay of Bengal are feeding moisture over Bangladesh.

These weather systems are still persisting. Therefore, light to moderate pre-Monsoon rains with few heavy to very heavy spells are expected over Bangladesh. These rains are likely to continue during the next 24 to 48 hours. Thereafter, the intensity of rains would reduce.

In wake of these hefty showers, the normal day to day life has been getting affected. Waterlogging is a major issue which has been hampering the lives of people. In fact, many trees fell off and electric wires got cut off as the strong winds along with lightning strikes were also accompanied.
