Recent unseasonal rain across Punjab and Haryana has hit the harvesting of wheat crop. Higher moisture content in the grain is delaying procurement process. The delay in procurement of stocks by Government agencies is forcing severe problems. The Centre is planning to procure 31 million tonnes of Wheat this year against last year’s 25 million tonnes.
