Indian chilli prices have surged by nearly 20 per cent in the last one month after rains during July-October in Madhya Pradesh. Andhra Pradesh  state accounts for about 50 per cent of the total production, followed by Karnataka for about 10 per cent. At least 80 per cent of first picking in Madhya Pradesh chilli crop was washed away by rains.
