Zimbabwe’s post estimates maize production to increase by 63 per cent, from 800,000 tons in the 2013-14 MY to about 1.3 million tons in the 2014-15 MY. This is due to the favorable rainfall and 36 per cent increase in corn area planted from 950,000 hectares in the 2013-14 MY to 1.3 million hectares in the 2014-15 MY.
