Hailstorm, rain in Punjab, Haryana to damage wheat, mustard, potato crops

Unseasonal rains coupled with hailstorm activities and strong winds have become a common affair in the states of Punjab and Haryana during the last few days. In fact, the month of February has seen common occurrences of these activities over the Northern Plains.

These weather activities have been occurring due to the back to back Western Disturbances over the Western Himalayas, which have also been inducing Cyclonic Circulations over the plains.

The worst part is that these weather activities have wreaked havoc over the crops in both the states. Hailstorm in particular has caused immense damage to many crops.

It looks like farmers will once again have to bear the brunt of upcoming rains and hailstorm in these areas.

Now also, a Western Disturbance is over Western Himalayas and its induced Cyclonic Circulation is over the plains of North India.

Thus, rains have already begun over both the states and will continue for at least a day or so. In fact, hailstorm activity will once again make an appearance damaging crops.

Crops including wheat, mustard and potato may once again suffer damage. These crops are in their maturity stage and are to be harvested soon enough.

In a nutshell, unseasonal rains will once again wreak havoc over crops in both Punjab and Haryana in the next 24 hours.
