Chickpea or chana acreage increased to 86.92 lakh hectares as compared with last year’s 83.05 lakh hectares. This is contrary to expectations that the acreage might decrease as chana prices have been hovering below the MSP level. The acreage has increased mainly in MP by two lakh hectares,Maharashtra(2.16 lakh hectares) and Rajasthan (1.45 lh).
