Prices of ungarbled pepper at Kochi market topped a record Rs 500 per kg even as futures continue to rise following projections of a lower crop next year. AtKochiin Kerala spot eight tonnes of farm grade pepper arrived and about 10 tonnes were traded. Spot increased by Rs 200 to Rs 50,000 (ungarbled) and Rs 52,000 (garbled) per quintal.
