Indian Black Pepper traders urged the authorities to release the Pepper in the warehouses to meet the demand instead of importing. Availability of Black Pepper in all the origins was tight and it was evident from the firmer market inSri Lankawhich had quoted $10100-10200 per tonne. In the domestic market there was neither any arrival nor off take.
