The weather conditions have turned conducive for the retreat of monsoon 2013 from north, northwest India and west Indo-Gangetic plains as these regions are now witnessing northwesterly dry winds. The minimum temperatures in these regions have dropped sharply and humidity levels have also reduced as easterly winds have receded from the region. From here onwards, day temperatures may rise a bit due to sunny sky but just after sunset each day, temperatures will start falling. Day conditions will remain pleasant due to northwesterly winds.
The withdrawal of monsoon got delayed this year as the moist easterly winds have resisted leaving these parts due to frequent development of weather systems from the Bay of Bengal like Cyclone Phailin but much weaker in strength.
