Central MP expected to receive heavy showers; rain likely to increase along the west coast

New Delhi, Thursday, August 9, The rainfall activities are likely to continue over Madhya Pradesh as central Madhya is expected to witness heavy to very heavy showers in the next twenty four hours. Rains are also set to increase along the west coast in coastal areas of Karnataka and Kerala. In the northwest plain too rainfall would continue with light drizzles.

 

Madhya Pradesh is observing one of the best phases of showers in India during this monsoon. It is predicted that during the next twenty four to forty eight hours, rain would continue to occur in many parts of the state. Showers are increasing over central Madhya Pradesh under the influence of the active monsoon trough.

 

Monsoon trough is essentially a region of intensified monsoon winds. The trough is passing through Anupgarh and Jaipur in Rajasthan, center of the cyclonic circulation over northwest Madhya Pradesh, Daltonganj in Jharkhand, Bankura and Kolkata in West Bengal to the central east Bay of Bengal.

 

While northwest Madhya Pradesh is likely to remain wet as the cyclonic circulation continue to persist over this region. Adjoining areas of northwest Madhya Pradesh, east Rajasthan, northeast Gujarat as well as southwest Uttar Pradesh would continue to reap benefits as light to moderate rainfall activities are expected during the next twenty four hours.

 

Along the west coast, the seasonal offshore trough is extending from south coastal Maharashtra to Kerala coast. The rainfall is increasing along the coast in Karnataka and Kerala as the trough is rejuvenating. Moderate to heavy rainfall is predicted over coastal areas of Karnataka and Kerala while moderate rain would continue to take place over coastal Maharashtra, Konkan and Goa during the next twenty four to forty eight hours.

 

In the northwest plains, light rain will continue over Punjab, Haryana, Delhi, Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand during the next twenty four hours, under the influence of the interaction between the low pressure area over northwest Madhya Pradesh and the passing Western Disturbance over the areas close to China.

 

West Rajasthan, Saurashtra and Kutch, Madhya Maharashtra, interior Karnataka and south Tamil Nadu will remain mainly dry as the moisture laden winds reaching here are weak.
