Weather forecast for the week in India from 24th February to 2nd March

After rain, the new week in North India starts with plenty of sunshine while, South India especially the extreme eastern coast and some parts of interior southern Peninsula are bracing up for rain. Here is how the weather will unfold over different regions of the country during the week:

North India

Hills and plains in North India are expected to witness cold and dry weather till Wednesday. Night temperatures will remain below normal at almost all the places while day temperatures will witness a rising trend till the middle of  the week. The approach of a fresh Western Disturbance from Wednesday onwards will bring a change in the weather condition in India. Rain may occur over east Rajasthan, south Punjab, Haryana, Delhi and west Uttar Pradesh while, snow is expected in the higher reaches of Jammu & Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand. This will lead to day temperatures dropping and minimums rising from Thursday.

East and Northeast India

At the start of the week, there are chances that cold and dry weather will resume in East India over East Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, West Bengal and Sikkim. A cyclonic circulation from Saurashtra will reach over East India possibly from Thursday and will cause rain in these parts. Night temperatures that would fall at the start of the week in the region will rise by weekend. After witnessing a gradual rise at the start, day temperatures will again fall by the end of the week. The northeast region will also witness similar weather conditions before rain at isolated places on Monday.

Central India

Central region of India i.e. Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh and Odisha will be in the ambit of a cyclonic circulation which will form over Saurashtra coast and will move eastwards. The weather system is expected to bring good amounts of rain in these states. It will keep the day temperatures below normal after rising initially while, night temperatures will rise to be above normal during the weekend.

South India

A trough from the Cyclonic circulation to south Peninsular India across Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra and north interior Karnataka will cause rain in madhya Maharashtra, Marathwada, Vidarbha, north interior and south interior Karnataka, possibly from Friday onwards. Sky in these parts will be partly cloudy to cloudy with light rain. The extreme southern Peninsula region over coastal Tamil Nadu and some interior parts will witness rain on Monday and Tuesday.
