Heatwave in Odisha has been wreaking havoc all over the state. The severe weather conditions have been causing immense trouble to the residents of Odisha. Many areas in the state have been recording maximums above the 45-degree Celsius mark.
The one city, Titlagarh continue to burn. While we may have thought that the maximums would stop soaring when the temperature reached 47-degree Celsius , nature’s wrath continued to throw life out of gear. So much so that the city went on to record 47.5°C followed by 48 degree Celsius the very next day.
Now, Titlagarh has broken its all-time record. On April 24, Titlagarh recorded 48.5°C which is the highest maximum ever recorded during the month of April. The city had recorded 48.1°C degree on April 30, 1999 but now new records have been set in the year 2016.
Unfortunately, no respite is in sight. Currently, no weather system has been affecting the region and none is in the offing. So, the maximum may continue to increase even further. It seems like that time is not far away when Titlagarh will be observing a 50 degree Celsius as its maximum. And if the situation persists, the 50-degree mark may be reached in April itself.
