Northwest and Central India have been receiving good rainfall activities for the last 2 to 3 days. The rain belt has now taken under its purview East India as well. This region has received fairly widespread rain and thundershowers, during last 24 hours. Northeast India has also received scattered rains.
Rain in North India
On Sunday, snowfall occurred over few place inJammu and Kashmirand Himachal Pradesh. Tourists got to enjoy snowfall in places like Gulmarg,Pahalgamand adjoining areas.
Isolated pockets of Punjab and North Haryana have also received rain and thundershowers. Here’s a look at the rainfall figures recorded in North India during last 24 hours.
Rain in Central, East and Northeast India
Central and eastern parts ofMadhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, North Odisha, Jharkhand and East Uttar Pradesh also received scattered rain. Isolated places of Madhya Pradesh reported hail storm activities.
In Northeast India,Assam, Meghalaya and Arunachal Pradesh received light to moderate rainfall.

These rainfall activities are beneficial for the Rabi crops. Moreover, irrigation was needed at many places. However, hail storm and squally winds have damaged the crops in few places of Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh. Nevertheless, we can say that the overall situation is not out of control.

Now rain will remain confined to Central and East India for another 48 hours, before fading away completely. By March 9, rainfall over East and Central India will reduce significantly.
On March 8, East Madhya Pradesh, Jharkhand, Chhattisgarh, and parts of Odisha will get rain and thundershowers at few places. Northeast India will also continue to receive rain for a couple of days.
