Rajasthan recently witnessed a fairly widespread rain and thunderstorm last night except the south west regions of the state.
The main reason for this rainfall is the induced cyclonic circulation in the region. The main reason for this induced cyclonic circulation is the Western Disturbance happening over Northern Pakistan right now.
It is expected that the induced cyclonic circulation will move northwards over the weekend. In the next 24 hours, North and West Rajasthan will receive light to moderate rain and thunderstorm.
Areas to have received rainfall in last 24 hours include Ajmer – 12.8 mm, Jaipur – 4.0 mm and Churu – 2.0 mm. Udaipur and Jaisalmer received traces of rainfall.
By evening of February 20, rain will move towards Madhya Pradesh and will leave Rajasthan dry.
Rains during February that is pre-harvesting time, is beneficial for the Rabi crops. The problem occurs when the unannounced rain is experienced in March, which is the harvesting season for Rabi crops.
Pre-monsoon rains may visit during March due to high temperatures and a possibility of that happening cannot be ruled out.
The minimum temperatures have increased by 2 to 4 degree Celsius in Rajasthan. This is mainly because of the weather events in the south-west region of the state. The major change is the weather is because the maximum temperature has fallen. The change is by 2 to 3 degree Celsius. The temperatures will be on the cooler side because of the cloud cover and rain activity.
