The deep depression is expected to intensify into a cyclonic storm named Kyant during the next 24 to 48 hours. As of now, cloudy conditions are observed overNagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, and Tripura along with most parts of East Coast particularly the GangeticWest Bengal, Odisha andAndhra Pradesh.
BY evening hours of October 26, rainfall activity is expected to commence over Gangetic West Bengal and CoastalOdisha. However, light rain is expected to commence over the northeastern parts of the country, particularly the NMMT region by today itself.
As the system comes closer to the Indian Coast, rain intensity will increase on October 27 and 28 over parts of Gangetic West Bengal and the Odisha coast. Moderate to heavy rains will continue over these areas until October 29.
By October 30, rain intensity over the coastal areas will decrease. However, interior Odisha,Jharkhand, parts ofBiharand West Bengal will also begin to receive light to moderate rain over many places on October 30 and 31. However, the rain intensity will not be heavy over any of these areas.
The auspicious festival of Diwali is on October 30 this year and it will be rainy enough to hinder the festivities. Thus, rainfall activity is expected to play a spoilsport on Diwali plans over these areas.
