New Year Heat: Mumbai records second highest maximum ever

January 1, 2016 3:26 PM |

Mumbai weather on New YEARMumbai city has recorded its second highest maximum for the month of January on New Year. The city recorded 37.3°C today and missed its record highest maximum during January by a whisker.

Mumbai has been reeling under hot day conditions. An anti-cyclone over Central India is the reason behind this persistent heat in the region. It’s been tough moving around in Mumbai.

As per Skymet Meteorology Department, temperatures are not expected to drop any time soon. Moreover, no respite is likely from hot day conditions for another 48 hours.

Similar conditions are being witnessed in areas adjoining Mumbai. The heat is more prevalent in the coastal areas. Places like Ratnagiri and Nasik are also observing hot day conditions.

So Mumbai begins its New Year with record temperatures and sizzling heat. Frankly speaking, it’s hard to call it a winter down there right now!
