A fresh Western Disturbance is approaching the hills of North India. At present the weather system is lying over North Pakistan and adjoining Jammu and Kashmir region. The Monsoon trough is also very close to the foothills of North India. Moreover, there is a lot of moisture present in the air, in view of the low pressure area over Uttar Pradesh and adjoining Madhya Pradesh region.
All these weather systems will act in tandem to give good showers over entire North India. Over the weekend, fairly widespread Monsoon rains are likely in Punjab, Haryana, Delhi-NCR and northern and eastern parts of Rajasthan.

Monsoon rain in Hills of North India
It has already started raining in the hilly states. Few places have received very heavy showers in last 24 hours.
In Jammu and Kashmir Kokernag received all-time highest 24 hour rainfall of 105.9 mm in the month of July. Jammu also received good showers and recorded 81.8 mm of rain, Kupwara received 48.3 mm, Batote 42.6 mm and Srinagar 20.7 mm.
In Himachal Pradesh, Dharamsala received 187.6 mm, which is the last 10 year highest rainfall in a span of 24 hours. Tourist places like Kullu and Manali also received 53 mm and 30 mm of rain, respectively.
In Uttarakhand, Pithoragarh received 47.2 mm of rain and Nainital 56.5 mm.
Over the weekend we could experience very heavy showers and therefore, it is not conducive to visit the hill stations of North India during this time.
