So as the country gears up to uncork the champagne, Skymet takes a look at how the weather will unfold in major cities across India on the New Year’s eve. Night will be extremely cold in Lucknow, Allahabad, Varanasi and Patna. A blanket of fog will engulf places along the banks of Ganga and Yamuna for an extended duration. Weather in Kolkata A wet New Year's Eve likely in Kolkata, which is all geared up to celebrate the New Year with tantalising dance, music and an assortment of Indian and Global cuisine across the city. Coastal areas of Odisha and Bengal would welcome 2015 on a rainy note as the system over Bay of Bengal is likely to bring some rain on 31st night. People in Kolkata, Bhubaneshwar and Cuttack should avoid outdoor parties. Weather in Bangalore This IT Hub will offer sizzling performances by international artists along with food, fun and frolic as people from different backgrounds join in to usher in 2015. Bangalore will remain dry with maximums in high-twenties and minimums around 17 degrees. There’s no threat of rain in the city.  Thus, Bangaloreans can enjoy open-air gatherings complimented with bonfires or cosy house parties equally well. Weather in Chennai The spell of rain in Chennai, brought by the system in the Bay of Bengal, left on time from here that has allowed people to enjoy a hassle free New Year's Eve. After being drenched by 87 mm of rain on Monday, Chennai is in for some relief form the rain for next few days. Dry weather conditions are likely in Trichy, Madurai and coastal areas of Tamil Nadu as well.
