Low Pressure area over Madhya Pradesh becomes less marked

August 15, 2015 1:45 PM |

Rain in Madhya PradeshMadhya Pradesh has been receiving fairly widespread rainfall for the last three days. In fact, rainfall has been heavy at few places. All thanks to the low pressure area which has been hovering over Central India for the last one week.

At present, the weather system is lying over Northeast Madhya Pradesh and adjoining Southeast Uttar Pradesh and Bihar. It is likely to move northwards and merge with Monsoon trough after 24 hours. Accordingly, Monsoon rains will gradually reduce over Central India.

Meanwhile, here’s a look at the rainfall figures in Madhya Pradesh in the last 24 hours from 8:30 am on Friday:

Rain in MP

Rain in rest of Central India

The weather system over Central India has also brought good amounts of rainfall over East Rajasthan and Maharashtra during last one week. So much so that it helped in bringing down the rainfall deficiency in these regions to a great extent.

A week back Marathwada was rainfall deficient to the tune of -55% and Vidarbha -21%. After receiving good rains, the deficiency reduced in these areas and now stands at -46% in Marathwada and -3% in Vidarbha. The rainfall deficiency has reduced from -35% to -31% in Madhya Maharashtra, in view of the low pressure area.
