An early exit of rains and a prolonged spell of hot and dry weather during the first week of September forced Delhiites to stare at the hottest September this year. The average maximum temperature that was 36.6°C during the first week of this month was the highest in last five years. In comparison to previous years, rainfall was also nil during the first week of September.
The average maximum temperature was two notches above the monthly average maximum temperature of 34.1°C. Weak Monsoon and dry conditions led to dropping of moisture content in the first week of September.
Usually Monsoon commences its withdrawal from North India from the second week of September due to which temperature rises. However, in absence of any significant weather system leading to rains, temperature rose in Delhi during the first week itself.
Delhi has been witnessing a dry spell since 25th August and even after 14 days, weather in Delhi is dry with mainly clear sky. The maximum temperature is likely to hover around 36°C – 37°C with minimum temperature settling around 27°C. As Southwest Monsoon is likely to withdraw shortly from North India, weather in Delhi will remain hot and dry for next few days.
However, due to the presence of northwesterly winds, relief will come from mornings and nights as comforting weather will give the soothing effect against the warm day.
