Probable cyclone to intensify Bangalore rains

May 18, 2016 3:40 PM |

Depression in Bay to intensify Bangalore rainsBangalore rains are all set to return as the weather system over Bay of Bengal has intensified into a deep depression. The system has already given heavy rain over Chennai and Thiruvananthapuram. Now, it is Bangalore’s turn to receive some good showers.

While the capital city of Karnataka received good showers during the first ten days of May, thereafter the intensity of rain over Bangalore decreased. In fact, during the last two days no rains have been recorded over Bangalore.

Traces of rains were witnessed over Bangalore on May 13 and 14. However, the residents of Bangalore can finally heave a sigh of relief as good showers are all set to lash the garden city of India. While rains will be of moderate intensity, this spell will bring down the maximums marginally.

Currently, the system currently lies about 120 km south-southeast of Nellore in Andhra Pradesh. This deep depression is likely to move in a northeast direction along the Andhra coast. Thereafter, the system will start moving northwards before re-curving to the northeast direction away from the Indian coast. Gradually, the weather system is likely to intensify into a cyclonic storm during the next 24 to 36 hours.

Many other areas in South Interior Karnataka along with Bangalore are expected to receive good showers during the next 24 hours.
