Bangalore generally witnesses dry weather conditions during the month of December, to such an extent that the city records just 15.7 mm of rainfall the entire month.
Though light rain has occurred over the city during the initial days of December, but since then the city continued to remain dry. However, now the cyclonic storm Vardah is likely to pour some good rains over the city so much so that it can surpass its monthly rains.
The cyclonic storm Vardah is heading towards north Tamil Nadu and adjoining south coastal Andhra Pradesh. The system is presently seen lying 520 km ESE of Nellore, 490 km ESE of Machilipatnam and 480 km ENE of Chennai. It is expected to make a landfall close to Chennai by December 12 noon as a cyclonic storm and thereafter will weaken gradually.
In wake of this, we can expect light to moderate rains to begin over many parts of the city by the evening of December 12. It is very likely that the city may be able to surpass its monthly rains during the upcoming rainy spell.
The intensity of rains will further increase by December 13. In fact, some areas may also receive short spells of heavy rains. These rains will also result in marginal drop in the temperatures.
