As reiterated by Skymet Weather, Kolkata is all set to witness some more spells of heavy rains on Friday. All thanks to the cyclonic storm Roanu that is presently moving northwestwards, along and off the Andhra Pradesh and Odisha coast.
Though at the moment, system is located little far away from the West Bengal coast but peripheral of the system are impacting the weather over the capital city.
Kolkata was observing overcast sky since morning, leading to development of thunder clouds. As a result, rain and thundershowers started lashing the city around 12:30 pm. Further, these showers are likely to continue throughout the day.
Skymet Weather predicts rains are expected to intensify over Kolkata as the system comes closer to West Bengal coast. During this time, city may record heavy to very heavy rains and thundershowers.
Under the influence of the system, city has already recorded 29 mm of rain in span of 24 hours from 8:30 am on Thursday.
City exactly does not fall in the line of fire of the cyclonic storm but as we have earlier mentioned, that these storms govern the weather pattern up to vast areas. The ongoing spell has already led to drop in maximum temperatures by several notches. On Thursday city recorded 32.1°C, which was three degrees below normal.
The weather has gone pleasant and we expect similar weather conditions to continue for next 48 hours.
