Families that lost small tenements during the floods will be getting a financial help of Rs.10,000 with an additional amount of Rs. 5000 as special relief. Families will also get a saree, a dhoti and 10 kg rice.

 

Updated on December 28, 2015 at 11:00 AM IST: Chennai is likely to witness pleasant days with clear weather for next few days. However, light to moderate rain is expected to continue over southern parts of coastal Tamil Nadu for next 24-48 hours.

As per Skymet, this is likely to be the last spell of Northeast Monsoon rain in the region. Mainly partly cloudy sky conditions will prevail over Chennai and adjoining areas. Interior and coastal South Tamil Nadu will receive more rain in comparison to the northern parts of the country.

Northeast Monsoon will revive over Tamil Nadu in coming days. Intensity of rain will be more over southern districts of Tamil Nadu such as Karaikal, Palayamkottai, Pamban and Kanyakumari.

After that, the weather will remain dry until December 26.However, a feeble cyclonic circulation, which is developing over South Andaman Sea will start moving in a westerly direction.

 

Updated on December 21, 2015: Chennai rains will also revive for a short period of time on December 27. The city will receive a few spells of good rains on December 27 and 28. However, the intensity will be light to moderate and the duration will be short.

 

 

 

Updated on December 20, 2015: Kanyakumari continued to receive good rains during the last 24 hours. These rains are likely to continue for another two days. On December 22, Chennai may receive light rainfall. However, on December 27, Chennai is likely to receive good rains of light to moderate intensity.

 

 

Updated on December 19, 2015: Southern parts of Tamil Nadu continues to receive heavy rainfall. Kanyakumari started receiving heavy showers at about 3.30 pm and recorded 64 mm of rainfall in just 3 hours. Tuticorin received very heavy showers. In a span 24 hours from 8.30 am on Friday, Tuticorin has received 116 mm of rain.
