Heavy rainfall accompanied by damaging winds brought by storm Desmond has inundated several parts of the United Kingdom and Ireland. Roads were blocked and houses seemed to be floating in flood waters.
One of the worst-hit areas was Cumbria, which received heavy showers once again on Wednesday. Here a campaign has been launched to raise funds for the victims.

Power outages were reported from more than 60,000 homes in Cumbria throughout Sunday.
Rescue and relief operations were carried out in full swing. Emergency workers had to use boats to flee people from their flooded houses.
Several houses in the counties of Cumbria and Lancashire were left without power. In the image below, we can see rescue operation being carried out in the city of Carlisle, in Cumbria.
The latest spell of rainfall in the already ravaged Cumbria will prolong flooding problems.
