Due to the Western Disturbance, there are chances of rain and snow in Jammu & Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand in the next two to three days. Initially, it will occur at a few places in Jammu & Kashmir but will increase after 24 hours to occur at many places in the Western Himalayan region over Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand.
The Western Disturbance (a low pressure area emerged in the Mediterranean Sea and adjoining Atlantic Ocean) is about to reach Jammu & Kashmir during the next 24 hours. The weather system is currently positioned over north Pakistan and its adjoining areas. The weather system will move eastward.
Under the aegis of this weather system, northwest and Indo-Gangetic plains will also witness change in weather conditions. Night temperatures in northwest India will rise due to winds changing from dry notherly to humid easterlies.
Minimum temperatures settled 3 degrees below normal in north and east India in past two days. Srinagar recorded 2.4 degrees yesterday while Jammu recorded 13, Ludhiana 10.4, Hisar 11.8 degrees. Delhi recorded 12.3 degrees which is the season's lowest till now.
Nights will be cool in east India. Minimum temperatures have settled below the average at many places in east Uttar Pradesh and Bihar. Lucknow witnessed a minimum of 10.4 degrees on Tuesday morning, which is 5 degrees below normal. Varanasi recorded 14.6 degrees, Allahabad 13.5 and Patna 16.5 degrees, making Tuesday night the coldest of the season so far. With the movement of the Western Disturbance, night temperatures will rise in east India after the next 48 hours.
