The well-marked low pressure area in southeast Bay of Bengal is likely to intensify further into a depression during the next 24 hours. The system may move westward to reach south coastal Andhra Pradesh and north Tamil Nadu by Thursday. Under the influence of this weather system, rain may increase over these coasts. Good amounts of rain can be expected here first and then in Karnataka, Kerala and Maharashtra.
The weather system is part of northeast monsoon that has remained subdued for past few days. Scattered rain will be witnessed over extreme south peninsula along the Tamil Nadu coast during the next two days. Chennai, Madurai, Tiruchirapalli and Pondicherry in Tamil Nadu will remain warm as temperatures are above normal by 2 to 3 degrees. Lack of rain is the reason for rise in temperatures in coastal Tamil Nadu.
