Yesterday, several places of Himachal Pradesh witnessed freezing night temperatures with Manali recording temperatures in minus for the first time this season. It registered minus 0.4 degrees on Wednesday, 13th of November early morning.
Keylong and Kalpa were the two other places in Himachal Pradesh that witnessed below zero temperatures. Keylong remained the second coldest place in the hills of Western Himalayan region after Gulmarg. Keylong recorded a minimum of minus 5.6 while Leh, the coldest place in India recorded -11 degrees last night. Srinagar registered night temperature of around minus 1.6 degrees.
In the plains, Punjab, Rajasthan, Haryana, Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar and Madhya Pradesh are witnessing below average day and night temperatures. Night temperature in Delhi was recorded at 11 degrees which is 2 degrees below the normal. Day temperature in Delhi was recorded two notches below normal at 26.6 degrees yesterday, the 12th of November.
Hisar and Karnal in Haryana recorded minimum temperatures of 7.6 and 7.8 degrees last night and remained the coldest place in the Northwest plains. These temperatures are below normal by 5 degrees.
Temperatures in central India are also running below the average. Bhopal recorded a minimum of 13.7 degrees while day temperature was recorded at 27.8 which is two notches below the average of 30 degrees.
Temperatures are below the average in all these regions due to prevalence of northerly winds from the Himalayas. These winds are cool and will not let the day and night temperatures rise much till the arrival of next Western Disturbance.
