The weather system (a low pressure area) may turn into a feeble tropical storm in the next two to three days. It lies in south and adjoining south Central Bay of Bengal and may develop into a depression first and then could intensify further into a deep depression and may also culminate into a feeble tropical storm. It will travel westward to make a landing over south coastal Andhra Pradesh and north Tamil Nadu.
According to a senior Meteorologist at Skymet Weather, “ The well-marked Low Pressure Area in Bay of Bengal has moved slightly westward and is now lying over south and adjoining south central Bay. This system is ready to become a Depression in the next 24 hours and deep depression by 14th morning”.
The weather system would be devoid of strong winds like the ones we witnessed during Phailin but will be consists of clouds that could give heavy to very heavy rain in south India in Tamil Nadu, south Andhra Pradesh, Kerala, Karnataka and some parts of Maharashtra for four days from November 15 onwards. Winds will be in the range of 60-70 kmph and could affect normal life with continuous rain.
Rain will remain subdued in Tamil Nadu and Kerala in the next 24 hours. It will start picking up thereafter as the above weather system moves closer to the coast.
