Pune Warriors India vs Chennai Super Kings
Subrata Roy Sahara Stadium, Pune
Match starts at 8pm
The last time when these two teams fought in Chennai, Pune Warriors had to beat not only the two-time champions Chennai Super Kings in their backyard but overcome the muggy conditions in Chennai as well. And now as Chennai Super Kings comes to Pune to play their ‘away’ match, Pune is unlikely to pose any challenges weather wise.
During the match, Pune (at around 33) will be only a wee bit warmer than Chennai (at around 31). Humidity levels in Pune will be lower than Chennai due to its distance from the coast. Westerly winds would replace the warmer northwesterly winds at the start of the match and could give a relief to both sides from heat spewed during the day (maximum of 41).
Westerly winds in Pune will be slower than southeasterly winds over Chennai. Pune will have wind speeds of around 5 kmph while Chennai will be witnessing winds at around 15 to 20 kmph at that time. Had the IPL cricket T20 match been played in Chennai, there would have been clouds but they will be missing from the Pune skies.
Weather along with pitch conditions have played a crucial role in this year’s IPL cricket where touring teams have been struggling to adjust to them. Home teams have been at ease while playing as majority (80%) of matches till now have been won by them.
